Anti-fragility — Gaining From Disorder

Anti-fragility is a notion the describes systems that are able to not only withstand or survive situations of high stress and volatility but also benefit from such situations. The concept of anti-fragility has been developed and popularized by Nassim Nicholas Taleb in his book "Anti-fragile: Things That Gain from Disorder".

There is a distinction between anti-fragile systems and resilient/robust systems. While resilient systems survive the shocks, anti-fragile thrive from the shocks. Robustness simply means being able to withstand stressors without necessarily improving from them.

By building anti-fragility, systems can leverage opportunities that are occasioned by shocks and disorder, while avoiding the negative consequences.
