Kane and Abel" is probably one of the best novels I have read so far (apart from anything written by Sidney Sheldon). The novel was written by Jeffrey Archer and was published in 1979. The theme of the novel is a family saga that spans several generations and is centered around the lives of two men, William Lowell Kane and Abel Rosnovski, who come from very different backgrounds. One was from a wealthy family and another from the opposite of that.

As their paths collide in the world of finance and business, they compete against each other in various ways, both professionally and personally.

Themes: ambition, revenge, love, and the impact of fate on the lives of the two men.

Such a great novel. Three quotes:

  • Fortune favours the brave.
  • If you have to pay a bill, always make it look as if the amount is of no consequence.
  • Never seek the wind in the field—it is useless to try and find what is gone.
