Quant #25: Sampling Frame

A sampling frame in quantitative research and statistics refers to the source material from which a sample is drawn. It can consist of a list of all those within a population who can be sampled and may include individuals, households, or institutions. The most common type of frame is a list of elements of the population (preferably the entire population) with appropriate contact information. For example, the population could be “farmers who live in area x.” in this case, the frame would list all the names of all of those farmers from district x.
